OBSESSIVE GAMES

Fish Money Privacy Policy

Last updated: 22 October 2026 · Android package: com.ObsessiveGames.FishMoney

The short version

Fish Money is intended for players aged 13 and over. It is not designed for children under 13. Your adventure is saved on your device, and Google Play Games can keep a cloud copy if you use it. Purchases go through Google Play.

Ads are only for players aged 18 or over who make the required privacy choices. Players who are under 18 or don't give their age never see ads, and the ad services are never started for them.

Questions or privacy requests? Email enquiries@obsessivegames.co.za. To reset or delete your data, see Fish Money data deletion.

1. Who operates Fish Money

Johannes Hermanus Petrus Prinsloo, trading as Obsessive Games, operates Fish Money from South Africa. He is responsible for the processing described here that we control. This policy covers the Android game Fish Money and support for it. Other Obsessive Games titles have their own notices.

2. Your adventure and Google Play Games

Fish Money doesn't ask you to create an account. There is no player chat, and you can't send messages or content to other players.

Your adventure is stored in the game's app storage on your device. It includes coins, upgrades, the fish you've found, records, goals, settings, playtime and the names you give your aquarium fish. Fish Money keeps this data out of Android's automatic backup and device-to-device transfer. The game works offline.

Google Play Games is optional. If your device is already signed in to Play Games, Fish Money connects automatically. You can also connect from Settings → Play Games. When you're connected, the game:

Other players may see your leaderboard scores and achievements, depending on the visibility settings in your Play Games profile. Google runs Play Games under Google's Privacy Policy.

If two versions of your adventure conflict, Fish Money lets you compare them and choose which to keep. The version you don't choose is kept on your device as a recovery copy, so you don't lose it by accident. The game keeps up to five recovery copies on the device.

Fish names are part of your saved adventure, so please don't put personal or sensitive information in them.

3. Purchases

Fish Money offers two optional one-time purchases through Google Play Billing:

For each purchase, the game receives the product details and price shown by Google, and the purchase token. It also receives the order and transaction details and Google's signed receipt. It checks the receipt's signature on your device and keeps a copy there, separate from your adventure, so your items survive a reset. Use Settings → Captain's store → Restore purchases after reinstalling or changing Google accounts.

The game checks your purchases with Google Play again whenever it can. That way refunds and cancelled purchases are picked up after the next successful check, and a pending payment only unlocks an item once it's confirmed. We don't receive your card number or security code. Google handles payment and your store account under its own policies.

4. Advertising and your choices

Fish Money asks your age group under Settings → Privacy & advertising, with four choices: Under 13, 13–17, 18 or older, and Prefer not to say. We store your choice on your device only; it isn't sent to us or included in your cloud adventure. We never ask for your date of birth.

If you choose anything other than 18 or older, the game doesn't start its advertising services and doesn't show ads. Fishing works the same for every choice.

For players aged 18 or over, Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) shows any privacy message your region requires before ads can start:

Separately, for every player, Fish Money asks its ad services to treat you as having opted out of the sale or sharing of your personal information. It also asks them not to use your device's advertising ID.

When ads are available:

You can change your choices at any time in Settings → Privacy & advertising. Use Manage ad consent where your region provides it, or change your age group to turn ads off. If you change a choice after ads have started, no further ads appear until you close and reopen the game. Changing your choices doesn't delete information a provider has already received, and withdrawing consent doesn't affect processing that was lawful before.

5. Providers and the information they receive

Fish Money has no analytics or crash-reporting service of its own: no Firebase, and no separate gameplay tracking. The Google and Unity services above still do their own measurement, diagnostics and security processing. The game doesn't ask for access to your contacts, camera, microphone, files or precise location. Google and Unity may act as independent controllers of the information they receive, and emailing us doesn't automatically erase their records.

6. Support email

Settings → Help & feedback → Contact us opens an email draft that you can edit in your own email app. Nothing is sent until you send it. We receive your email address, your message and anything you attach, and use them only to answer and look into your request.

7. Why we use information

We use your information to run and save the game, to provide the online features you use, to fulfil and restore purchases, and to answer support requests. Where the law requires a legal basis:

Agreeing to this policy is not consent to advertising. Ad providers may choose ads using information your choices allow, including interests they infer where permitted. Fish Money doesn't use profiling to make decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.

8. Younger players

Fish Money is intended for players aged 13 and over and is not designed for children under 13. Players aged 13 to 17 can play every part of the game, and the game never starts its advertising services for them. Choosing Under 13 or Prefer not to say also keeps ads off.

The age question is not a parental-consent check, and it doesn't override local age rules or Google account restrictions. Play Games may not be available on some younger players' accounts. Parents and guardians can use Google Play's family and purchase-approval controls.

If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, contact the privacy inbox so we can investigate and act. Please don't include the child's identity documents or other sensitive details in your first message.

9. Keeping, resetting and deleting data

Your adventure stays on your device until you replace or remove it.

Settings → Reset game starts a fresh adventure on your device. If you're connected to Play Games, your cloud adventure is also reset when the next sync succeeds. A small reset record stops your other devices from restoring the old adventure; when they reconnect, they keep it only as a local recovery copy. A reset doesn't erase:

Clearing Fish Money's storage, or uninstalling it, removes everything kept on that device: adventures, recovery copies, your privacy choices, receipt copies and ad limits. Google lets you delete Fish Money's Play Games data from your Play Games profile. Step-by-step instructions are on the Fish Money data deletion page.

We keep support emails while we need them for your request, a related dispute or record-keeping the law requires. After that, we delete them or remove identifying details. Google and Unity keep their records for the periods described in their own policies, which may include security, fraud-prevention and legal retention after you change a choice.

10. Security and international processing

Google and Unity send data over encrypted connections. We ask only for the support details we need, and we use our providers' access and security controls. Please protect your device and accounts; no system is completely secure.

We operate in South Africa. Google and Unity operate internationally, including in the United States, and ironSource operations include Israel. Their service providers may process information in other countries, where privacy laws may differ from yours. Their policies describe the transfer safeguards they use, such as adequacy decisions and standard contractual clauses. Contact us for information about processing we control.

11. Your rights and how to contact us

Email enquiries@obsessivegames.co.za with the subject Fish Money privacy request. Depending on the law that applies to you, you can:

We may ask for reasonable information to verify a request, but no more than we need. We can't see the adventures stored on your device or Google's Play Games records; for those, use the controls described above.

We respond within the time the applicable law requires and explain any lawful limit or extension. To ask us to reconsider a refusal, reply with Privacy appeal. You never have to agree to advertising to use these rights.

You may complain to South Africa's Information Regulator (POPIA complaints: POPIAComplaints@inforegulator.org.za) or to your local privacy regulator. UK residents can contact the Information Commissioner's Office. You don't have to contact us first.

12. Changes to this policy

We'll update this page and its date when our practices change. We'll tell players about significant changes and, where the law requires, ask for new choices before the changed processing starts.
